So is it just me or has every YA fantasy spontaneously performed meiosis and created a bunch of love-children that have different scenarios but the same basic plot and characters? Because The Merciful Crow is pretty much Children of Blood and Bone and Wicked Saints, but, like, smashed together. Neither of which, mind you, I particularly enjoyed. So now I’m wondering what crazy, senile, caffeine-deprived part of me thought that I would enjoy this book too? Huh.
